Hi Alex,

I really like the image that you ended on, also the pans worked well. Looking forward to seeing your soundslides about PTSD and soldiers.

For the most part (maybe one or two closeups are off), EXCELLENT use of images to illustrate both objective and subjective statements. Pacing is also good.

Good script - good interview - great use of nat sound. Your levels are off here -- the interview subject is much too soft. See if you can adjust.

Great job. I don't even have any edits (rare). Maybe one -

The CF has been criticized in recent years by veterans who felt their claims to have suffered from mental health issues such as PTSD had been ignored or, worse, swept under the rug by the military.

Otherwise, great research, great structure, cleanly written, good tone.

We talked about this last night - I think it is a great idea, though, as we've discussed, access-dependent, so you should do a bit of research about how you'd find people to talk to both at the official and unofficial level and integrate that into your final proposal.

This is what I was talking about last night:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/15/AR2008051503533.html

the article raises some interesting questions for Canada as well, granted, what's being talk about is despicable, but there's no question that once you start treating people for PTSD the lid blows off your medical budget.

another avenue to explore with expert interviews -- is there something about this conflict which is producing record numbers of veterans with PTSD, or is it a case of a historic malady finally being recognized?

Good comments -- you're right in noting that preparing the researcher to do his job well is really at the core of this piece.

Good to know that you've been blogging. Are you thinking of trying to pitch a political story for the class? I can imagine a great piece on the first 50 days of the Obama administration, from the Canadian side.
